Introduction: Multiple myeloma is the second most frequent hematologic malignancy. For the survey of the articles were used as descriptors, "dentistry", "multiple myeloma", "osteonecrosis associated with bisphosphonate".

The inclusion criteria for selection of samples were: the articles available in full, published and indexed in the referred databases, dental journals and in the last ten years, it is worth noting that no exclusion was made by language type.

Results: Obtained a quantitative of 35555 papers, after making the desired inclusions reached the number of 55 articles, then read the titles of the respective research, reaching 34, then the reading of the abstracts was reached 23 publications , however of this quantitative 12 works were repeated during the search. After several selection criteria, a total of 11 scientific papers were obtained.

Conclusion: The use of bisphosphonate-based drugs is very common in treatments for bone diseases such as osteoporosis, multiple myeloma, Paget's disease, breast bone metastasis or prostate cancer. However, there is a risk of developing osteonecrosis, since this drug decreases vascularization in the jaw area, thus leaving the patient with a special attention need from the medical / dental team that accompanies his treatment, new studies are necessary to understand and treat this new disease.

Keywords: Multiple myeloma, osteonecrosis and bisphosphonates

ER -
