: Introduction: Since the onset of the first cases of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in the late 1970s, the disease has been the subject of worldwide attention and its exponential growth in the 1980s has made it a public health problem faced until today (BRAZIL, 2010). Despite high mortality rates, the number of new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths worldwide has fallen by 19% over the past decade. In 15 countries the prevalence of HIV fell by over 25% among 15-24 year olds. These declines are largely attributed to the expansion and access to antiretroviral therapy programs in low- and middle-income countries (WHO, 2011). Objectives: To analyze the epidemiological profile of HIV / AIDS infected adolescents / young people and treatment adherence. Methodology: A descriptive approach study, based on the integrative literature review method. This review modality has as its main objective the interpretation and evaluation of available evidence of the investigated theme; Its final product is the assessment of the current state of knowledge on the subject in question. The following inclusion criteria were considered: a) studies published in journals in Portuguese, English and Spanish, developed in a relevant manner on the subject, in any country; b) whose theme includes the perception and feelings of adolescents living with HIV; c) coping with adolescents living with HIV for adherence to antiretroviral therapy; d) with free full text availability; e) primary studies of the last 5 years (2014-2019). Results: It is known that the behavior of the HIV / AIDS epidemic differs according to the sociodemographic determinants arranged in each scenario of the country and the world. In addition, with regard to specific subgroups such as IDUs (injecting drug users) and MSM (men who have sex with men), it is necessary to emphasize the importance of research that describes trends in the local HIV / ADIS epidemic ( BARBOSA JUNIOR et al, 2018; GRANGEIRO; ESCUDER; CASTILHO, 2015). According to Paiva, Pupo and Barboza (2016) the greater the exposure to risk, the greater the vulnerability of individuals to HIV infection. Consequently, public policies were developed based on the concept of vulnerability aimed at preventing situations that may expose individuals to the risk of contracting HIV. These actions include: Improving access to condoms, especially for young people aged 15-24; dissemination of information about safe sex in schools; the educational work with street children and adolescents, as well as the regulation of health care for this public; campaigns that reach workplaces and increased provision of HIV testing and counseling; harm reduction among drug users. Conclusion: Given the epidemiological profile presented and discussion with the literature, it is expected that the results of this research can provide subsidies that support and assist health services in the care of the population, including the adolescent / young population, and in the increment of policies. prevention of HIV / AIDS infection.
ER -
